Thank You Notes

It’s time to thank those who have greatly impacted my life & gotten me through grad school thus far.

No, I’m not talking about influential individuals & life-changing moments. I’m talking about junk. It’s the little things that become an integral part of your day-to-day existence that really help you survive. (Seriously, we all know that friends & family are not necessary to your happiness, right? After all, all men are islands….)

So, this is to you, random bits of material wealth that have sustained me & at times ruined me. Thank you for being there, whether in the fridge, on the bookcase, or in my bag. Thanks for patiently awaiting my return no matter where or how I left you.

For all the moments that I was too lazy or forgetful to pack breakfast/lunch/dinner or all of the above…

  • Almonds
  • Cheese sticks
  • Ensure shakes
  • Granola bars
  • Peanut butter

For providing me with ways to avoid my responsibilities…

For being the cure-all to any heartache/joy/social situation…

  • Coffee
  • Ice cream
  • Snow cones

For combating life organization fall-out…

  • $10 tote (From weekend trips to study dates to drama props  – you’ve done it all.)
  • Google Calendar (For the sudden changes to my schedule, future plans & reminder texts.)
  • Old lady vitamin case (For ensuring that I got my daily dose of multivitamins & iron.)
  • Flash drives (For holding my life in your small form.)
  • Microsoft Word (For serving as my operations base for all things wordy.)
  • Approximately 15 cardigans (Just kidding…) (For being a quick fix to all layering needs.)
  • Water bottles (For the hydration &  guilt trips for not guzzling nature’s classic beverage.)
  • Travel toothbrush & toothpaste (For dentist trips I wouldn’t pay for & fresh breath post-coffee &/ peanut butter.)

For keeping me sane…

  • Running sneakers
  • Hand-held weights
  • Yoga mat
  • Creative Zen
  • Uber-comfortable ugly recliner
  • Ecclesiastes
  • Anne of Green Gables
