The difference between life at college and at home: the local news.
No matter what my family does each day, it’s almost guaranteed that every night at 10 we’ll watch the news for weather and local updates. Regardless of where we are, in Texas with my grandparents or at home in our living room, the TV is tuned in to prepare for tomorrow’s weather and see what gimmicks didn’t pass the thing-a-magig test.
Here I only watch the news if we’re hit with a tornado or ice. Pathetic, but true. Instead, I log on to weather.com, though its forecasts always fails me.
They’re certainly different lifestyles. At home, my family has a set routine that usually everyone follows. Here, no group seems to share a routine. My residents and I go in several directions and sleep at odd times. I rarely go to bed at a consistent time or have consistent evenings at home. It’s a different world.
Neither lifestyle is the better one, but I am looking forward to the local news over Fall Break.
